We had really be slacking about getting him out driving so he hadn't had much practice. We had been taking turns taking him out in the evenings but it was tough to find time to go without the girls. So we asked for some help. It was nice to be close to friends and family who were willing to take him out for an hour or so. He got to go out with my brother who is a mechanic, his god-mother who is a teacher, and finally my sister's husband who is a sheriff's deputy.
It was really nice to spend some time with him and I didn't think of that as a way to connect with him sooner. They grow up too fast.
Of course, now there are a whole new set of worries ahead of us. Oh please, let him be a better driver than Tyler. ;) Tyler installed some pretty heavy duty speakers into the Jeep last year so we can hear him coming down the block. It's always a relief to hear him booming and rumbling into the driveway because it means he's made it home safely from another adventure. The neighbors are probably not so thrilled with the noise however.
