I LOVE THESE CURLS!!!

I used coconut milk conditioner on damp hair and finger-twisted each small section of her hair after putting the front into a small black rubber band. I kept a bowl full of water nearby to keep things damp. I used a technique I learned by watching Miss Jessie's tutorial videos. It took 1/2 hour to 40 minutes to do. We'll see how it holds up after naptime.

After naptime, it was pretty matted underneath and had poofed up quite a bit near her scalp. I didn't get enough product near her roots. I just combed out the under tangles a little bit and pulled it all into a pony tail. The end curls will stay for days. I'm sure it will be a challenge to comb out when I wash* it again, but it always is.

*I don't use shampoo. I usually just saturate it with conditioner, comb it out and then rinse. Sometimes I use baking soda to exfoliate her scalp too.

I did actually use the Carol's Daughter Tui Leave-In conditioner to comb through the tangles before adding the other conditioner. The ladies in my adoption group gave me a bunch of their products when we first brought Amanda home. They are just so heavily scented so I don't like to use them much. I wish they had fragrance-free versions of their products.

Katie, her hair looks great! When I was little girl that was my favourite hair style. My mom combs one of the daughter's hair like this for special days. I love that you are willing to learn how to comb hair that you are not born with. You daughter will love that! Congratulations!

I love those curls too! I'm sure it's a lot to learn, but it looks so worth the time it takes!

YOU are AMAZING. Amira (my daughter) has those curls but I don't have the time or energy to fight her anymore.

Amanda looks gorgeous.
