Babywearing and Berry Picking

I saw a mother yesterday holding her daughter's hand and carrying her daughter's babydoll. Too bad she didn't know about babywearing.

Amanda is not very attached to this bear, nor does she insist on carrying him everywhere, but she sure looks cute wearing her "baby."

We have wild blueberries growing in our woods and I've moved some of them to my garden. They are so delicious when they are fresh!

It's About Time!

After eleven months...

Even though I still love my wraps...

We thought it was about time...

For Amanda's first ride...

In a stroller*...

*This stroller was borrowed from the neighbor. My jogging stroller, that I bought when Tyler was little, is still in my mom's garage after being passed along to four cousins after Tony. Amanda was content on the stroller ride. We went with our neighbor and her two little boys were riding their bikes so Amanda was thoroughly entertained.

Mowgli Crawl

Isn't this the funniest crawl? It's Amanda's solution to crawling in a dress.

Jobs of An Eleven-Month-Old

Pick up garbage and practice standing.

Dust Floor and practice walking. (I'm holding the end of the dust mop and pushing it slowing around the kitchen.)

Help fold laundry and sort hangers.
Scrub potatoes which leads to washing the floor.
Amanda's shirt says, "Havin' a Blast!" What does the look on her face say?

She did really have fun and she got soaking wet but the digital camera is just too slow to catch the smiles. She was also picking up potatoes and standing up but when I took out the camera she just crawled over to me and ignored the potatoes.

Eleven Months Old

At eleven months, Amanda is...Weighing 19 lbs. and measuring 27 1/2 inches (Give or take, wiggle, wiggle).

Showing six teeth; four on top, two on bottom.

Walking with help.

Taking a few steps on her own.

Climbing stairs.Saying mama, dada, tee (Kitty-but she says it in reference to any animal), buba (Brother), and nigh-nigh.

Drinking from a sippy cup and feeding herself finger foods.

Nursing five or six times a day (She had been nursing less but it must have been a passing phase.)

Sleeping 12 hours at night and taking two or three naps.

Wearing 12-months size clothing and size-3 shoes.

Going diaper-free while during waking hours.

And clapping her hands.

Am I forgetting anything?

Work Day

Amanda had a busy day helping Mike and I with yard work. She started out helping Mike run the sprinklers on the new grass in the back yard.

Several meals and naps later, she ended the day by helping me spread the final load of black dirt in the front yard. She loves to be in her wrap. It hangs on a wreath hook on her door and whenever I take it down she clutches and nuzzles it. When I'm spreading it out on the bed, she is trying to jump out of my arms and once I lay her down she begins to wrap it around herself.Dirt poor? I don't think so! Isn't this beautiful? It looks a little like Oreo cookies crumbles.

We've lived in this house for 4 1/2 years and it's great to be finally getting a lawn! We had to order four loads of black dirt because there was nothing but sand. After our grass gets growing, the neighbors will do the patch on the right. We have to grow our lawns in patches, so the boys have somewhere to play while the seedlings are getting stonger.

The Adoption Song

I've been singing to Amanda when I put her to bed. There's been a variety of songs, which ever I could remember. The "Our Father", "Dr. Watts Cradle Hymn", "The Chaplet of Divine Mercy" and a few others.

Then Elisa told me she had been singing the same two songs to Mari for the last two years and Mari has just begun to sing with her. I began to think of which two songs I could choose. I picked the "Our Father" because of this cute video and the adoption song.

You may know it by another title. Here are the words:

Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto to us.
Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto to us.
That we may be called the sons of God.
That we may be called the sons of God.

We pray that Amanda would know the love that brought her into our family and that she would know the love that brings her into God's family forever.

The Reality of Photographing Multiply Children

We thought we'd try taking a picture of the crew again. We had similar results. First, Mari's eyes are closed but there's a cute smile on Joshy.
Then Joshy's looking down.
Then Amanda discovers that Joshy is holding a car.
Then Joshy and Mari realize Amanda is trying to get the car and the photo shoot is over, but there's a cute smile on Mari. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
